TRIP SUMMARY:
The Nottawasaga River, Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada is noted for its very large steelhead, the Ontario record rainbow trout/steelhead is from the same body of water that the 'Notty' feeds into, Lake Huron's Georgian Bay. At a monstrous 40.65 lbs. and only 39.1" long it had a massive girth of 29.4". Once found only on the West Coast of North America, the first steelheads were brought in the 1890s to the Nottawasaga River. The biggest true steelhead taken from Ontario’s water weighed 29.12 lbs caught from the mouth of the Nottawasaga River in Georgian Bay, the same river where the fish made its first appearance. Steelhead can live up to nine years but generally 6 to 7 years are tops, in that time a steely can reach upwards to 30 lbs. The Notty has slow and fast moving water that is ideal for wading and at over 74 miles in length offers plenty of good pools. SEASON: The spring season runs April to mid May while the fall fishing season begins at the end of September and runs through to the end of November.

GEAR
• Bring along a few fly rods from 5-8 weights both in 9' -10'single handed versions and 11'- 13’switch rods.
• A quality reel with a smooth drag system is a must as is several hundred yards of 20 lb backing.
• Intermediate to fast sinking shooting heads are the norm but floating lines can be used to fish a riffle fly or to dead drift a nymph.
• Leaders and tippets range from 3' to 12' with a breaking strength of 6 lbs to 10 lbs.
• Good quality chest waders with rubber or felt soles, the bottom is mostly sand/gravel. Don't forget your wading belt.
• A water proof wading jacket and multiple layers for cold and windy days add to the anglers comfort and make for enjoyable long days on the water and protection against the elements.
• Biting bugs in the early part of the season can be plentiful so pack some insect repellent.
• Personal gear is up to you all bedding, linens and towels are provide with daily maid service.

TERMS - DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT INFORMATION
The following applies to all trips booked and organized by Breakaway Classic Adventures: 50% deposit per rod of the total package cost for each trip is due at time of booking to secure the trip reservation. Full payment is due 60 days prior to departure and start of trip.
TRIP INSURANCE
Trip packages are non-refundable, it is highly recommended that you purchase trip insurance in the event that you have to cancel, for any reason.
