Restigouche & Matapedia Rivers
Gaspésie, Québec, Canada

"Without doubt, the Restigouche or locally called the 'Ristigouche' is one of the most important salmon rivers in the world. Forming a portion of the border between Quebec and New Brunswick, salmon of 40, 50, and even 60 pounds come to the fly of the fortunate angler. The first eight kilometers of the river offer public access. The rest of the river is private.
In Micmac, the word Ristigouche means “river that divides like a hand,” a reference to the numerous tributaries of the river including the famous Matapedia. On the public sector, nearly a dozen productive pools provide the opportunity to fish for salmon of trophy proportions during the early season."
