Moisie River - The hunt for trophy Atlantic Salmon

The Moisie River is located on the Québec North Shore east of the city of Sept-Îles. The Moisie River is a Salmon River in the truest sense. Some rivers are predominantly grilse rivers, and others have a mixture of both grilse and salmon, the Moisie spawners spend 3 winters at sea with good numbers of large, egg-rich female salmon that are critical to the survival of the species.

Unlike Pacific salmon species that die after spawning, Atlantic salmon are capable of spawning more than once. Moisie salmon owe their large size (averaging over 12 lbs with fish over 40 lbs) to the fact that some of them are repeat spawners, spawning at least twice and some as many as four times.

You will be guided on the lower Moisie famous for the largest Atlantic Salmon fresh from the ocean. Here the Moisie river has 3 open secteurs fishable from late May and into early June. Catching the first fresh run of salmon offers the greatest thrill and excitement the sport has to offer. You'll enjoy fishing over 22 km of prime Atlantic Salmon water with an experienced guide, traditional 26' Sharpe motor canoe, Orvis Vortex disc drag reels on either single or two handed spey rods.

Accommodation and Meals - Our comfortable fishing lodge is right on the Moisie River overlooking the Home Pool in Secteur. Meals include first seafood from the markets of Sept Îles, grilled steaks, chicken and a host of other mouth watering home cooked meals, including pancakes smothered with Quebec famous maple syrup.

What's included - Pick up and drop off at Sept Îles International Airport, 7 nights accommodations, 7 full days of fishing, one guide for up to 2 anglers, flies and fly fishing equipment if needed, motorized salmon canoe and gas, all river fees in secteurs 1, 2, three meals daily.

Not included - Travel and medical insurance, Québec fishing license other than catch and release license (which is included), permits for Winthrop-Campbell secteur based upon available drawings and alcoholic beverages.
