Africa / Zambia: Tigerfish & Bream
Duration:14 days, 11 days of fishing, mid October: $5,500.00 USD
Tiger Fishing in Africa has been the most popular sportfish for many years. The reason Tiger fishing is so popular is because they are incredible fighters, the world's best. It has been said that a Tiger fish will fight to it's death.
A mistake many anglers make is to boat a green fish, one that has lots of spunk left in him. The teeth of the Tiger Fish are long and razor sharp. Once they are in the boat they will continue to thrash around slashing anything and everything within reach, so the angler has to be very careful. Tiger fish average around 10 to 15 lbs but can grow over 20lbs.
Zambezi River fish tend to be smaller than the fish in Lake Kariba but pound for pound they fight just as hard and can be caught on a fly with special steel leaders. Besides catching the hard fighting Tiger Fish there are also plenty of good tasting Newbwe Bream.
he Zambezi River flows through Western Zambia over Victoria Falls and into Lake Kariba on it's way to the Indian Ocean. It's the section above the falls that's ideal for fly fishing or conventional tackle and where our trip takes place.
