Victoria Island has over 50,000 Muskox, one of highest concentrations in the world. We have a 100 % success rate on our Muskox hunts. Just recently we have been able to add Island Caribou to make for an excellent combination hunt.

High Arctic Lodge

Our hunts for 2008 weeks are almost entirely filled up so please hurry and book your hunt if you wish to join us. Almost all of our hunts are carried out by boat on the Merkley Lake and Surrey Lake system. With over 300 mile of shore line and thousands of muskox in our area you are assured of an exciting hunt. Our hunts are normally 1 X 1 with very seasoned Inuit guides, most of which know the area very well and have been with us since we started offering hunts in 1995.

We run our Muskox hunts after the 15th of August just as the hunting season opens. You will be able to enjoy your hunt from the comforts of our full service lodge. Temperatures average around 35 to 50 degrees. Our hunts are conducted mainly by boat with only a limited amount of walking or hiking required for the final stalk. After your hunt enjoy the company of the other hunters in our full service lodge and swap stories and adventures. Our guides will also be very happy to take you out fishing on Merkly lake for some of our famous Lakers, or arrange with Fred or Dawn, your hosts for a fly-out to one of the many Arctic Char hotspots found on Victoria Island.

Muskox date back before the ice age and have to be one of the hardiest of animals in order to survive the harsh arctic winters. Each year our Muskox hunts become more and more popular. We run our hunts after the 15th of August each year which is also when we cut off our fishing packages. This year we had 47 hunters that were able to experience the best sporthunt in the arctic.

The ever increasing large numbers of Muskox on Victoria Island have allowed us to enjoy a success rate of 100% since we first began our hunts in 1995. All of this years hunts were based out of our main lodge on Merkley Lake.

We had one bow hunter and one black powder hunter this year and four of our hunters adding on Arctic Islands Caribou who were all successful. Our first Black powder hunter was Chad Schearer who many will recognise as one of the hosts of Black Powder Guns & Hunting television Show running on the outdoor life network and fox sports south.
